In the Philippines, relatives spruce up the tombs of their loved ones in preparation for All Saints  Day. In Myanmar, which has been torn by violence between Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims, children at a refugee camp pump water for their family.

Elsewhere, salmon attempt to climb a fish ladder on the way to their ancestral waters to spawn in Selkirk, Scotland; and animal rights activists stage a protest at a Rome zoo after an antelope, a chimpanzee and an elephant recently died there.
